This bag is based on a coal bag believed to be from the 1920s. Coal bags were common in the 1920s, when coal was still the most widely used fossil fuel. While simply constructed with a thick canvas body and handles, this type of bag was widely used because it was durable and could carry anything. The bag has been redesigned with newsboy bag stitching, while retaining the distinctive rivets.
