This band collar shirt is based on a 1910s dress shirt found in New York. At the time, white shirts (plain white dress shirts) were considered the epitome of elegance, and owning a certain number of them was a sign of status for the wealthy. For those who only owned the bare minimum, detachable collars were introduced, allowing for the white shirt to be worn simply by washing the collar. In the 1910s, when three-dimensional patterns were the norm, this shirt's construction was quite unusual. It features a flat shoulder line, tight armholes, and straight sleeves. Its pattern has more straight lines than you'd expect. This straight pattern, along with the lost band collar, was directly incorporated into the design. The material is a checked fabric woven with organic yarn. The garment dyeing process adds depth to the color and creates a unique texture with shading.
