The balance was redesigned based on a 1940s North & Judd buckle from Takahashi's collection. North & Judd originally manufactured horse tack, but as the economy developed, it began producing a variety of accessory parts. Garrison means garrison, and the belt was so-called Garrison Belt because it was worn by the military and police. The belt is made from brown-cored cowhide, which fades brown with use, allowing for a pleasing patina.
