The design is based on a hand-knitted watch cap from the American Red Cross from the 1940s. Takahashi's collection includes an American Red Cross knitting textbook. It dates back to around 1917, when the country began sending knitwear made by citizens to the battlefields, and contains instructions for knitting various knitted items such as scarves and hand warmers. Based on this, the knitting techniques and details were analyzed and adapted to make them suitable for modern wear.
