DETAILS

The 1920s denim jacket, an iconic item from T.T. Taiga Takahashi preferred denim from so-called "store brands" over Levi's, especially J.C.Penny, which developed the Foremost brand. In the 1920s, they began making denim that imitated Levi's, and gradually developed designs with increasing originality. After collecting these denims, we felt their intent to differentiate themselves from Levi's through trial and error in various details, and by inheriting that intent, TaigaTakahashi's original denim was born. It uses organic cotton from the U.S. and is woven on an old-fashioned power loom in Okayama into a 3/1 left-hand twill, light-ounce denim. This denim fabric, slowly woven on an old-fashioned power loom, also known as a shuttle loom, which can only weave at a speed of 1/10 to 1/20 of modern looms, retains the original unevenness of the cotton yarn, creating an appealing uneven texture. The warp threads are indigo mixed with sulfur dyes, characterized by a weathered, green-cast color. They are rope-dyed to have a white core. The weft threads use custom nep yarn dyed in a yellowish ecru that evokes the passage of time. By using these two types of threads, Taiga Takahashi achieved its unique, rich, and deep indigo blue. For the finish, a Sanforized anti-shrinkage treatment is applied. It is a "white selvage" denim fabric, and the white selvage is used in various places such as the front facing and cuff lining. This jacket has a patch pocket on only one side and a simple construction with only one stitch securing the pleat on the front body. The silhouette is flat, with straight sleeves and a shoulder line without a slope. All the custom-engraved buttons and buckles are made of iron and are not plated on the surface, so they will rust over time, allowing you to enjoy their aging. All details reproduce the exact same manufacturing methods as in the 1920s. The signature leather patch is mud-dyed in Amami Oshima.
