For the cotton satin weave, thick yarn is used on the reverse side, which does not show, to ensure strength. 1950s military wear produced highly durable and friction-resistant products by using the reverse side as the front. The unevenness of the yarn, which would normally be on the reverse, is also a distinctive feature. The custom-engraved buttons and back parts are made of iron.
