This sweatshirt is inspired by the origins of American sportswear before the 1950s, before the widespread use of synthetic materials. Like the Lot.601 Tee Shirt, it features a flat shape created by direct cutting.
It features details like the V-gusset on the front and back of the neck, which acted as a sweat guard – a detail now omitted in modern manufacturing due to cost reduction and technological advancements. These elements offer a glimpse into the society and manufacturing processes of the time. The cylindrical loopwheeled fabric is made on existing loopwheeling machines. The loopwheeling machines, introduced to Japan during the Taisho era, are now only operating in Wakayama Prefecture, making it the only place in the world where they are still in use. Although very inefficient, weaving only one meter per hour, this slow process allows air to be woven in, creating a fabric with a moderate uneven texture. Furthermore, by using USA cotton, a unique texture with a dry feel is achieved. The charcoal and beige colors are garment-dyed; dyeing the product after sewing creates natural variations in shade in the seams and fabric irregularities. This, combined with the unique unevenness of loopwheeled fabric, results in a finish that, despite being a single color, offers a sense of fluctuation in its expression.
